Sending an Interview Request

An interview request is the first point of contact between your company and the candidate. Before the interview request, candidates do not have visibility into the companies or open roles on Hired. Our philosophy with a direct interview request is to flip the candidate experience upside down--requesting to speak with a candidate immediately and expedite the scheduling process for a first phone screen.

When you see a candidate of interest, send an Interview Request to see if they are interested in a conversation, too. After clicking on a candidate's profile, to the right-hand side, you will find a request window. Only premium seat users can send interview requests (see: 'User Types and Permissions')

TIP: Since candidates are being promoted for a limited period of time and many profiles are taken offline everyday, it’s highly encouraged to reach out with an Interview Request the moment you think there’s potential.

Interview Request Checklist

  1. Double check you are sending the candidate a request for the right project, you can change the project by clicking 'edit' within project details
  2. Specify the project location: is it remote? on-site? include all that applies.
  3. Include Base Salary: we require all interview requests to include a base salary. The purpose of this is to allow full transparency into compensation from the beginning of the conversation. This number is not set in stone and is up for negotiation throughout the interview process. We recommend reaching out to candidates within your available comp range for the role you are reaching out for. In addition, you can include a note in your personalized interview request message around compensation, if you see fit or would like to provide more details.
  4. Add Additional Compensation: Stand out by including any additional compensation your team offers! Click the pencil icon to the right of 'add additional compensation' to update.
  5. Craft a Message: we highly recommend personalizing your outreach. For messaging tips, check out 'How do I craft a good Interview Request message?'. You can now also save your custom messaging as templates!

Once you ‘Send interview request’, you will have five minutes to make further edits or ‘Withdraw’ should you change your mind. After the five minutes, unless you click 'withdraw' button, candidates will receive your Interview Request. The candidate then has the ability to accept or reject the Interview Request. We encourage a 48 hour response time from candidates to do so.
